This news is HUGE! Bloomberg Technology reported yesterday that Snapchat, a 4-year-old social media platform now officially has more daily users than Twitter. Founded in 2006, Twitter sees fewer than 140 million unique users per day—while new kid on the block Snapchat tallies over 150 million unique users per day. For such a new service to have dominated Twitter so quickly, we’d be foolish not to consider the advertising possibilities of this platform. Stay tuned next week for a blog looking into those opportunities for business.
For now, take a look at the Bloomberg article here. Recently appointed Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is quoted as describing Snapchat’s MO as “very modern,” and also says he “acknowledged that Twitter at times can be confusing and alienating—something he’s trying to fix.” Ouch!
