Codename: Magician. No, I am not a young David Blaine in the making. There are no slight of hand, card tricks, or illusions in my arsenal. If you are waiting for me to make some great escape, you are going to be terribly disappointed.
Then why take the name Magician? It derives from the Lev Grossman trilogy and best selling book series The Magicians. To give some context to the general vibe of the books, they are best described as the unholy union of childlike optimism with the perspective that comes with dealing with the harshness of reality. My name is Jonathan Johnson, and I am the newest addition to the 2018 intern team here at Satori, and as if I had come from the pages of The Magicians, I am a gritty, aspiring marketer who views the world with both childlike optimism and harsh perspective.
Which is why I am so excited to have joined the Satori team. A team with an overwhelming amount of positivity and optimism, but also the toughness that comes from doing the dirty work. From the time I interviewed to helping with the Satori Crawfish Boil a couple days later, it feels as if I have finally come home to the mothership.
While I know my journey here is just beginning, I have no doubt the senior team is going to put me through the ringer. I feel so fortunate to work with a such a top-notch creative team and I can’t wait to learn as much as I can.
P.S. If you are looking for a good read, please check out The Magicians by Lev Grossman. It is also worth checking out the TV adaptation of the same name. Keep in mind that both are very dark, just so you aren’t too shocked when you take my recommendation.
